JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Review, analyze, develop, and modify Enterprise application systems
• Code, test, debug, and document programs for new or existing systems.
• Participate in the design and implementation of a company-wide employee portal
• Responsible for developing software tasks in accordance with Information System standards and methodologies
• Develop reports, upon request, utilizing various report-writing tools in all applications
• Recognize any problem, hardware or software, that may have ramifications Enterprise-wide; strategize and define remediation plan with Supervisor, Help Desk, and execute accordingly
• Monitor and report on any security violations related to the unwarranted access to corporate data
• Maintains awareness of the rapidly changing environment and recommends cost efficient techniques when supporting corporate and field systems users
• Recognizes and identifies potential areas where existing policies and procedures require change, or where new ones need to be developed, especially regarding future business expansion
• Supports the mission and direction of client’s Information Services both within the department and throughout the corporation
• Assist in the completion of any activities, tasks, and projects as defined
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
• BS or BA in Business Systems or Computer Science • 3-6 years of Java/J2EE software development experience • Prior experience designing scalable enterprise software solutions • Strong Interpersonal and Communication skills • Willingness to travel is a must
TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS
• Experience with IBM Websphere and IBM WebSphere Portal 6.0 or greater • Experience with Web-based technologies-Java frameworks • Working knowledge with Access and/or PL/SQL • Experience with Oracle databases and applications • Experience with Relational Database Development (DB2) • Experience developing applications in a UNIX environment • Experience with HTML, Javascript, or Dreamweaver (plus)

Software Development Engineer (Java)

POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for producing software for core products. This includes using requirements and designs to implement a solution, defining test plans and methods, executing all testing, and assisting with the deployment of new releases. Coordinate and conduct necessary product activities. Facilitate the use and improvement of a software development lifecycle.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Design and implement software solutions and enhancements. This will include GUI application, database, and report development.
- Must be able to independently create designs for more complicated software changes.
- Perform product and system testing.
- Compare product behavior to expected behavior. Ensure all components are complete and ready for installation assembly, independent testing, and production.
- Develop, test, and maintain product installation programs.
- Issue logging, tracking, analysis, reporting and management.
- Develop documentation including test plans, installation instructions, internal release notes, and design documents.
- Participate in software development lifecycle for new and existing products.
- Prepare for and support products at tradeshows
- Release control and coordination for multiple products.
- Coordinate work activities for other team members.
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Education / Training: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
Business Experience :
Minimum of 2 years experience in information systems analysis, design, development, testing and/or implementation
Specialized Knowledge/Skills:
- Client / server software development experience.
- Must be accountable and responsible for working on Business critical products that operate 24/7/365 and are distributed nationwide to many clients.
- Must have the ability to provide 3rd level support for all products involved with, whenever necessary.
- Good understanding or working knowledge of computer databases and SQL.
- Hands on experience with report writer.
- Technical writing, system documentation, design document-management skills.
- Demonstrated self-starter, interpersonal skills, creative problem solving skills.
Preferred skills:
- Strong software development experience with Java in a client/server environment is highly preferred.
- Strong skills and experience in Object Oriented Development and formal Software Design Methodologies is preferred.
